About Me
Hello! I am a mixed-heritage trauma and addiction therapist working via a liberation-focused lens.
Therapeutic Approach
My lived experience has helped me to understand that dis-ease is often the manifestation of the socio-cultural systems, including patriarchy, colonization, and capitalism. I believe that individuals carry deep historical and intergenerational trauma regardless of their racial or ethnic background due to colonization and systemic oppression.
This trauma shows up as individual and collective wounding that requires deep attention and healing for us to truly thrive as individuals, as a society, and as a species. A decolonized, liberation-focused approach does not see the individual as fragmented and separate in mind, body, soul, spirit, the natural world, ancestors, and the greater systems we are all a part of.
I also hold wisdom and medicine rooted in the teachings of my Indigenous elders and Nature as a teacher and healer. I can bring these into the therapeutic setting as needed or by request. I also honor each persons own relationship (or lack thereof) with their own spiritual pathways and resources and can include these in the therapeutic journey.
Credentials & Experience
I have in been practicing therapy since 2018 and hold an MS degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I’m trained in EMDR and Compassionate Inquiry, both somatic-based trauma treatment approaches. I am self-taught in Internal Family Systems and use it complement my therapeutic approach.
In addition, I have also received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Attachment-based Family Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing and other evidenced-based modalities that comprise my toolbox.
Outside the Office
When I am not in the office, I enjoy tending my garden, running a BIPOC-led nonprofit serving marginalized communities, spending time in nature, writing, making crafts, and sitting by the fireplace with my partner, my furry friends, a good book, and hot tea.
