About Me
I’m Jen, a counseling intern in the final year of my Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Eastern Oregon University. I’m passionate about supporting people of all ages as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward more fulfilling, balanced lives. My path into mental health grew out of my years in primary care, where I saw firsthand the deep connection between physical and emotional well-being. That experience led me to pursue a more direct role in helping people strengthen their mental and emotional health. I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each person’s unique needs.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach is rooted in a client-centered perspective, with a focus on creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness, while adapting my work to meet each client where they are. I aim to help clients build practical coping skills, deepen self-awareness, and feel empowered to make meaningful, lasting changes. I provide LGBTQIA+ affirming, anti-racist, and culturally responsive care, and work to create a space where clients of all identities feel seen, respected, and supported.
Credentials & Experience
- Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Eastern Oregon University (in progress)
- Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, National University of Natural Medicine (1998)
I bring more than 20 years of experience in naturopathic primary care, with a focus on pediatrics and women’s health. This background informs my holistic perspective and supports my work in addressing the connection between physical and emotional well-being.
Outside the Office
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cross-country skiing, and exploring new places. These activities help me stay grounded and bring balance to the work I do with clients.
