About Me

Hello, I’m Shelby, I am a Multidisciplinary Artist, and I have been a community activist serving in ecological social justice through artistic application and non- judgmental education for over a decade. Throughout this time, and while witnessing the incredible cycles of life, I have experienced many accounts of complex grief, chronic illness, depression, and trauma, some of which has been my own and has inspired me to further my personally gained understanding of how art can heal.

With this knowledge in mind, I chose to intertwine my love of art making and strong belief in its vast healing capacity and positive therapeutic effects on mental health and wellbeing, to more prominently support my broader and expanding community.

Therapeutic Approach

I approach therapy through an existential humanistic lens while taking the whole person into account. We are not our story, yet our story influences and shapes how we have come to be, and I am here for those hard conversations we find difficult to explore. It is my intention to help my clients regain a secure sense of self through meaningful process and progress as we navigate some of the heavier facets of life together.

Credentials & Experience

I am currently completing a Masters degree in Art Therapy from Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. I am a certified End of Life Doula and Activity Director. I hold a certificate in Black Studies, and am working on completing a certificate in Eco-Soma-Arts.

Outside the Office

When I am not working, or making art, I enjoy reading curled up on the sofa with my two orange kitties. I also enjoy nature walks, rain, and yummy homemade soup. You might like to know that I was homeschooled and grew up on a llama farm and helped out in the garden a bunch!
