Postdoctoral Psychologist Resident
Pronouns: They/Them
About Me
I’m Danny, a postdoc with six years of experience working within university and community mental health settings. In my early 20s, I volunteered with the Trevor Project, which taught me how powerfully active listening can transform lives. I specialize in working with complex trauma, internalized stigma, and gender/sexual minority stress and resilience. I believe in developing meaningful relationships to foster empowerment, increase self-awareness, and deepen connections with others.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach to therapy is process-oriented, trauma-informed, and grounded in feminist and psychodynamic theories, but I also draw from emotion-focused, strengths-based, and cognitive behavioral approaches. I aim to help others hold themselves and their worlds with more complexity by developing critical consciousness, holistic wellness, and playful curiosity about the unknown.
Credentials & Experience
I hold bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and psychology and a master’s degree in psychological research from California State University, Long Beach. As of Summer 2026, I also hold a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Arizona State University. I have additional training in writing letters of support for gender-affirming medical care, working with suicidality, LGBTQ+-affirming care, and trauma-informed counseling. My professional experience as a therapist includes three years working in university counseling centers and three years working in community mental health settings.
Outside the Office
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy playing video games, writing, and listening to music. I love talking to my cat, laughing with loved ones, and am passionate about using humor to expose and navigate the absurdities of life.
