What is the structure of IOP?
IOP is a structured therapeutic program that includes both group therapy and individual therapy. In groups, participants learn coping skills, explore patterns, and build insight within a supportive setting. Individual therapy sessions focus on personalizing skills learned in group and addressing individual goals and challenges.
Why is group therapy a core part of IOP?
Group therapy allows participants to receive support from both clinicians and peers. Many people report a sense of belonging, shared understanding, and feeling less alone through group work. Learning alongside others with similar challenges can be a meaningful part of the healing process.
When does IOP meet?
LGBTQIA+ IOP virtual and in-person (Portland) programs meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays for three hours a day. Participants typically participate in the program for a period of 12 – 14 weeks.
Why do you offer virtual IOP?
We offer virtual IOP to increase access to care for adults across Oregon. Virtual care allows participants to engage in structured treatment without commuting, while still receiving consistent, relationship-based support from licensed clinicians.
What if I already have a therapist?
All participants in IOP are assigned an individual therapist whom they meet with weekly during the program. Some individuals choose to continue seeing an outside therapist at the same time; however, this may not be covered by insurance. You are responsible for contacting your insurance provider to understand coverage for concurrent services.
