Marina Garcia, MSW
Clinical Social Work Associate
Pronouns: She/Her/Ella
I believe healing doesn’t happen in isolation, but in community and connection. In our therapy, I hope to co-create a comfortable, nurturing space where you can feel supported as an expert in your own healing.
With a calm and empathic approach, I will use our initial sessions to listen and affirm your experiences, integrating modalities that meet your unique background and needs. I use client-centered, relational, psychodynamic, narrative, emotion-focused, and mindfulness-based therapies, as well as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), to process trauma, reframe narratives, and support self-awareness, resilience, and personal growth. As a multiracial Latine Asian American therapist, I embrace complexity and strive toward a culturally sensitive practice.
I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Columbia University and practice as a Clinical Social Work Associate. My experience includes working with LGBTQIA2s+ teens and young adults, immigrant and first-generation communities in Japan and the U.S., neurodiverse individuals, chronically ill individuals, and couples and families. I welcome all ages, but primarily focus on adolescents and young adults.
I may be a good match for you if you’re seeking support with:
· stress
· depression
· anxiety
· communication / relationships
· cultures / identities / family of origin
· adjustment (relocation, immigration, life transitions)
· trauma recovery
Drawing from my background as an art teacher, I incorporate expressive arts and play therapy when they align with our goals. My hope is to foster a space that feels open to expression beyond words, allowing us to explore and grow together at a pace that feels right for you.
Clinical Supervisor: Dr. Adam Rodriguez, PsyD
