About Me
Hello! My name is Lu. I’m a queer, Jewish, and gender-fluid Professional Counseling Associate committed to working with adults who have experienced significant pain in their lives.
I treat folks struggling with C-PTSD, addiction, grief and loss, anxiety, identity and self-worth, relational wounds, pleasure and sexuality, immigration/acculturation stress, or trauma related to discrimination or systemic oppression. I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life, and I have particular experience working with those who identify as QT-BIPOC, polyamorous, or in the kink community.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach to therapy merges Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with the values of liberation psychology to help clients re-imagine how they relate to themselves and others. In sessions, this looks like easing the effects of pain and trauma by building healthy, loving relationships with yourself and your community.
Together, we’ll name how family history, oppression, and cultural constructs contribute to the way you think, feel, and behave. You’ll also learn mindfulness and somatic skills to soften emotional overwhelm while staying aligned with your values and on track towards your goals.
Credentials & Experience
Before joining PMWHC, I worked as a harm reduction counselor at an addiction recovery center on Chicago’s West Side. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Latinx Mental Health from The Chicago School. I am specifically trained to assess and treat historical and discrimination-based trauma using decolonized frameworks that emphasize diversity, community, and liberation for all.
Reaching out for help is courageous in these difficult times, and I would be honored to be your trusted ally as you face hard moments, move through them with bravery, and journey toward a life of meaning and joy.
Outside the Office
In my spare time, you can find me studying spirituality, reading tarot, collaging, biking, hiking, community building, or shopping the bulk section at Winco!
