About Me
Hi! I’m Gaby Hernandez, M.A., a fifth-year doctoral student in the Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology program at George Fox University, currently completing my clinical psychology internship. I enjoy working with individuals experiencing anxiety, OCD, trauma, depression, PMDD, and women’s mental health concerns. What drew me to psychology is that it beautifully combines art, science, and philosophy to better understand people and foster meaningful connection. I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most powerful catalysts for healing and growth, and I feel honored to build that relationship with each client.
Therapeutic Approach
My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, relational, and culturally responsive framework. I integrate approaches including psychodynamic therapy, CBT, ACT, Gestalt therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Joiner’s Interpersonal Theory of Suicide to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. My goal is to create a collaborative, compassionate space where we can deepen insight, build resilience, and work together toward meaningful and lasting change.
Credentials & Experience
I earned my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from George Fox University and am completing my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. My additional training includes a Trauma Treatment Certificate from George Fox University, Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, Women’s Mental Health, and specialized training in OCD and anxiety treatment. My clinical experience includes outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), school-based therapy, and psychological assessment.
Outside the Office
Outside of therapy, you’ll usually find me knitting or planning my next yarn festival or yarn crawl. I love making my own garments, reading, playing video games, watching movies, and anything related to Star Wars. I also enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and partner, and I’m passionate about advocacy, social justice, and building stronger communities.
