Catherine Corona Lau, MCOUN
Professional Counselor Associate
Pronouns: She/Her
Hi, I’m Catherine Lau. I’m a nationally certified counselor and professional counselor associate in the state of Oregon. I work with a variety of topics related to mental health including: life transitions, identity development, anxiety, depression, trauma-processing, self-esteem and interpersonal relationships. I offer individual and couples/relationship counseling to adults in both English and Spanish.
Counseling can provide a space to process, heal and grow. My approach is rooted in humanistic counseling which acknowledges our inherent desire for wholeness and meaning. I provide empathetic support for clients to work through their concerns, increase awareness and hold the fullness of life—it’s ups, downs and in betweens.
As someone who is mixed race, queer and neurodivergent, I honor the beauty of diversity and being in community with others. I take care to gain an understanding of your culture(s) and encourage incorporating cultural practices/healing modalities in counseling. I strive to position my work towards collective liberation and look toward feminist theory and liberation psychology to inform my practice.
I hold a master’s in clinical mental health counseling with a graduate minor in ethnic studies from Oregon State University and a bachelor’s in psychology from University of California Santa Cruz. Outside of the office you’ll find me cooking a family recipe (though it never quite tastes like my tia’s), hiking or listening to an audiobook.
