Autry Johnson, MA
Professional Counselor Associate
Pronouns: He/Him
Welcome! I am a Professional Counseling Associate with experience supporting adults in individual and group counseling. My interest in mental health began with my own experiences in therapy and is rooted in my values of authenticity, compassion, integrity, and justice. I specialize in working with adult individuals seeking support related to trauma, spiritual and existential concerns, grief and loss, life transitions, identity, and recovery from substance and process addictions. I believe that we all hold the innate capacity to grow and heal when provided with the support we need. I look forward to working alongside you and supporting you in moving towards your therapeutic goals, whether that be healing, growth, or a deeper understanding of yourself.
Therapeutic Approach
I approach therapy from a primarily Psychodynamic perspective, while also incorporating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Somatic-oriented therapies. I am also committed to maintaining a trauma-informed, holistic, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive therapeutic approach that embraces all aspects of your identity and lived experience.
Credentials & Experience
I hold an M.A. in Professional Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Addictions from Lewis and Clark College and am a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I’ve had the privilege of working in inpatient as well as outpatient settings, supporting diverse populations of adult individuals navigating trauma, psychosis, mood disorders, suicidality, grief and loss, existential and spiritual concerns, and recovery from substance and process addictions. In addition to my previous clinical experiences, I’ve also enjoyed serving as a peer support volunteer on a warmline providing harm reduction services and integration support to psychedelic drug users.
Outside the Office
Outside of the office, I love spending time in nature, learning languages, reading philosophy, playing music, watching movies, and hanging out with my Great Pyrenees, Maple.
