Paola Pereira MSW

Professional Counselor Associate

Pronouns: She/They

Welcome! My name is Paola, and I’m glad you’re here. Therapy offers a unique space to explore your most personal experiences, thoughts, and emotions without judgment.

As a therapist, my hope is to create a space where you feel safe and supported enough to bring your whole self, and to move toward healing on your own terms.

Therapeutic Approach

I work with adults and teens navigating many of life’s challenges, including:

  • Complex trauma

  • Identity exploration

  • Burnout

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Relationship issues

Many of the people I work with are carrying the weight of personal and collective trauma, navigating systems not built with them in mind, and working to cultivate more joy, presence, and connection in their lives.

I offer sessions in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and strive to make therapy accessible and responsive to each client’s needs.

My approach is:

  • Warm and collaborative

  • Grounded in curiosity and respect

  • Informed by narrative therapy, emotion-focused work, and mindfulness-based somatic practices

Through this work, I help clients process trauma, explore emotions, and gently reconnect with their bodies, their wisdom, and their power. I see healing as something that happens in relationship—with ourselves, with others, and within the systems we live in.

Personal & Professional Background

I am a queer, first-generation child of Brazilian immigrants, and I identify as both Latina and Arab. I carry deep love and gratitude for the cultures I come from and the communities I belong to. These identities deeply shape how I understand:

  • Identity and belonging

  • Resilience

  • The complexities of moving through multiple worlds

My path to becoming a therapist began when I noticed how often mental health care felt out of reach and out of touch for people in my own communities—including myself and my family. I wanted to be part of changing that.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Much of my deepest learning has come through living, working, and organizing alongside communities resisting ongoing violence and oppression—including BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, neurodiverse, immigrant, and refugee communities.

Outside the Therapy Room

I feel humbled and grateful to do this work alongside so many wonderful humans. I am deeply committed to ongoing growth and learning, both personally and professionally, and I look forward to the possibility of doing this work together with you.
