Hello there! I’m Shayna Crespo and I am a LPC and CADC II with over 10 years of experience serving diverse populations. I specialize in both trauma and addictions as well as have experience working in inpatient, outpatient, and community-based programs. My journey in the mental health field began as I was exposed to family, friends, and my community struggling with addiction and mental health issues that faced significant barriers getting treatment. This motivated me to find the middle ground to help bridge the gap so everyone has an opportunity to get holistic treatment as opposed to only treating the surface level symptoms.

Therapeutic Approach

I work with people who experience a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges that include addiction, trauma, depression, grief and loss, and more. My treatment approach varies as I believe in tailoring treatment to meet the needs of the individual. The foundation of my approach is derived from trauma informed, person-centered, motivational interviewing, family systems, CBT, DBT, written exposure therapy, and attachment theories.

I like to emphasize the importance of an open and productive therapeutic alliance, in which genuine interactions can provide opportunities for growth and insight. I strive to create a warm and non-judgemental environment for clients to reflect on and expand the stories of their lives. I believe that building rapport with clients is essential for promoting a safe, genuine, and trusting relationship for growth. I enjoy using humor, joy, and creativity as a means of building meaningful connection. I believe that real change happens when we feel safe to connect with our true selves in a manner that is promoting growth in our journey and celebrating even the smallest of wins.

Outside the Office

When I am not in the office I enjoy being outdoors as much as possible! I enjoy traveling, swimming, and going on hikes with my beautiful black German Shepard named Izzy. When I am home I enjoy spending time with my family and my Ragdoll kitten named Meredith (aka Meowredith). I also love to try out new recipes and gardening. My current hobby is anything and everything sourdough!
