Foundations of Gestalt Therapy: A 6-Session Workshop for Therapists

This 6-meeting workshop series introduces therapists to the foundational concepts of Gestalt Therapy and their practical applications in clinical settings. Each session is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of Gestalt principles while fostering their ability to integrate these ideas into their therapeutic work.

Although primarily didactic, the series embodies the core values of Gestalt Therapy by attending to awareness and process throughout. Participants will engage in a variety of learning methods, including experiential exercises, clinical demonstrations, dyad work, and group discussions to support the integration of theory with clinical work.

  • April 12th – Foundations and a Brief History of Gestalt Therapy
  • May 10th – Awareness and The Paradoxical Theory of Change
  • June 21st – Field Theory and Diversity
  • July 26th – Experimental Attitude and the Phenomenological Method
  • August 16th – Dialogic Stance and Emergent Relational Dynamics
  • September 13th – Integration and Closing

All meetings are held online from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM Pacific

This series offers a unique opportunity for therapists to expand their theoretical knowledge while actively engaging with the transformative principles of Gestalt Therapy.

Jen Leong, LMFT

Jen Leong is a therapist and educator with extensive training in Gestalt therapy, which she also teaches at the graduate level. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in the principles of Gestalt, emphasizing awareness, authenticity, and embracing the full spectrum of human experience. Jen specializes in supporting neurodivergent individuals, transgender clients, and those navigating profound grief, offering a space where clients are encouraged to embrace their true selves rather than conform to societal expectations. Deeply affirming and inclusive, Jen is LGBTQ+, polyamory, CNM, and kink-affirming, and she actively cultivates cultural competence through continuous learning and reflection. She brings a nuanced understanding of identity’s many facets, helping clients find balance and navigate the world while staying authentically connected to who they are.

Brad Larsen, PsyD

Brad Larsen is a clinical psychologist and Gestalt therapist with a deep passion for sharing Gestalt therapy nationally and internationally. With extensive training in Gestalt therapy since 2005 under Eva Gold and Steve Zahm at the Gestalt Therapy Training Center Northwest, Brad integrates this dynamic approach into his work. Brad is passionate about Gestalt Therapy and interested in the intersection of the Buddhism of the Lotus Sutra and Gestalt Therapy theory.  He will share his passion for Gestalt therapy with anyone who will listen.
