Psychotherapy with Adults
My name is Samantha Godoy and I am a doctoral student therapist at Portland Mental Health and Wellness under the supervision of Jordan Hendrickson, PsyD.
I received my master’s degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah and am currently enrolled in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral program at George Fox University. I have experience working in in-patient and out-patient settings. I enjoy working with a broad range of clientele and clinical needs and have previous experience working with children who have experienced trauma, adult trauma survivors, domestic violence perpetrators and survivors, and the forensic population.
I find great pleasure working with individuals and providing support and guidance while they move forward on their journey. I approach therapeutic work with empathy and unconditional positive regard. I seek to create a safe environment to process the past as well as work on the present moment. I hope to meet the client where they are and work on specific needs the client choses to work on. In general, I conceptualize my therapeutic work from a cognitive behavioral perspective looking at how an individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors affect their relationship with themselves and others. I welcome a collaborative approach and look forward to working together to achieve the client’s goals.
