Individual Psychotherapy with Children, Adolescents, and Adults
Greetings! My name is Nori, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked in community-based settings for over ten years. I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark College in 2011. I also hold dual board-certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) under the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Over the course of my career, I have worked in a variety of settings – inpatient units, outpatient clinics, K-12 public schools, crisis teams, threat assessment and management teams, graduate school adjunct faculty, and most recently in a medical clinic providing integrated healthcare services.
I believe that growth and change are ever-evolving processes throughout our lifetimes. We are constantly striving to build momentum toward making the changes necessary to reach our fullest potential. Also, I believe that we enhance growth through our relationships and connection with others. Challenges and adversity offer us opportunities to cultivate new strengths, deepen our relationships, embrace vulnerability, and become a more confident and resilient version of our true selves. Occasionally, we benefit from extra support and encouragement to move through a particularly challenging season along our journey. My approach to working with individuals is warm, curious and relational; and I will work alongside you to identify, clarify and utilize intrinsic strengths to find solutions to help you get to the place that you envision for yourself. I highly value transparency, collaboration, choice, inclusivity, authenticity and respect in my work with individuals. Together, we’ll work to create a safe space that provides opportunities to create dialogue for you to explore areas where you may feel unbalanced.
I primarily work with adults, though I also welcome children and adolescents. My theoretical approach is diverse and fundamentally rooted in humanistic theory. However, in my work I draw upon elements from many theories, including cognitive-behavioral, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, expressive, brief solution-focused, mindfulness and narrative therapies. My specific therapeutic interests include (but are not limited to) anxiety disorders, grief and loss, stress management and career/life transitions. I look forward to working with you as you navigate the journey toward an authentic and joyous life.
