About Me
Hello, my name is Nina and I’m a mental health therapist within the QT-BIPOC fellowship program. I became a therapist because it was difficult for me to find a provider who shared my identities and worldview. There was a distinct need in my city for more culturally-comprehensive, trauma-informed care, and I wanted to contribute. I believe we all have the capacity for growth, and that healing happens in connection and community.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach is integrative, warm, and direct. My clinical training is in Somatic Experiencing (SE), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and the Satir Growth Model. Even though I utilize various theoretical frameworks and tools, I believe that an attuned relationship is what facilitates personal transformation, not necessarily any particular modality
Credentials & Experience
I earned my master’s degree in clinical social work from UNC Chapel Hill. Although I had access to a formal education, much of my practice is informed by my experience as a grassroots organizer, environmental educator, and ceramic artist. I enjoy working alongside clients who are fighting for a more habitable world and those who are at a crossroads in their careers or personal lives.
As a queer, non-binary person of mixed descent (asian and white), I take the time to understand intergenerational patterns and cultural nuances that influence health and well-being. We might be a good fit if you’re grappling with existential dread, asking questions around belonging/home, or recovering from burnout. I also specialize in working with highly-sensitive people, first responders, and artists.
Outside the Office
When I’m not in the office, I like to host elaborate dinner parties, go backpacking, and read. My most reliable medicine is spending time in the forest and playing games with friends. Having grown up as a third culture kid, I also enjoy traveling, practicing languages, and trying new cuisines.
I am supervised by Mark Reck, PsyD
