Individual Psychotherapy with Adults
My name is Cynthia Song, and I am a resident psychologist at Portland Mental Health and Wellness under the supervision of Dr. Adrian Larsen Sanchez, PsyD.
I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from George Fox University, and completed my clinical internship at Columbia University Medical Center in NYC. I have a broad range of clinical experience—medical centers, inpatient units, emergency departments, community mental health clinics, university counseling centers —working across the life span with unique individuals from diverse backgrounds. I am especially interested in understanding and breaking patterns of psychological trauma, examining unresolved grief, and increasing one’s self-reflective capacity. I approach therapy from a psychoanalytic perspective, to understand the stories behind manifest symptoms by exploring one’s distinctive history, upbringing, culture, and life events as it relates to the present. My goal is to facilitate a lived understanding of self and other and to increase cognitive and emotional flexibility to support a more integrated, compassionate, and creative sense of being. It is an honor to be invited to witness and partake in your journey.
