About Me
Hello! I’m Annabelle Stodd, a counseling intern for the Affirm 2STNB program. I am in my final year at Portland State University, seeking my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am passionate about working 1:1 with individuals to process and make sense of their lived experiences.
As an eternally curious person who is always learning, I strive to be rooted in decolonization, social justice and advocacy, anti-capitalism, and queer justice. Growing up in poverty has shaped how I approach client care by highlighting the larger systems we are a part of and our intersections of systemic privilege.
Therapeutic Approach
My framework is rooted in psychodynamic counseling, but I draw from other approaches in order to work with individuals in a personalized holistic way. I believe that everyone is the expert in their own lives and I aim to work collaboratively with clients in a way that prioritizes their autonomy and strengths. The main practices I draw from are:
-
Psychodynamic Therapy
-
Person-Centered Therapy
-
Humanistic theories
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Outside the Office
When I am not counseling or in classes, you can find me crocheting, crafting, reading, hiking, swimming, and slowing down. As a creative, I rarely ever stand still, but when I do I am connecting with my community and with nature.
I am supervised by Holly Zell, LPC, PhD
