Psychotherapy with Adults
Therapy is courageous work and I’m glad you’re here making this first step. My name is Andrea Millen and I’m a licensed Clinical Psychologist as well as a Registered Yoga Teacher. Creating an empowered, warm, and compassionate therapy experience is most important to me.
My specialty is in working with people who experience Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, stress, and hoarding. I have extensive training, including a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University, in providing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD.
The clients I work with are diverse and I often integrate the science and art of mind-body practices as an addition to therapy. My clinical approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and is informed by an anti-oppressive/anti-racist and pro queer/LGBTQ+ approach with a focus on my client’s strengths.
Here is what you can expect at the beginning of therapy with me: The first few sessions will involve us gaining a deeper understanding of your concerns, difficulties, what matters most to you, and ways you’d like your life to improve. By the end of our first few sessions, I will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work could look like and a general plan for treatment. We can collaboratively decide if I am the best person to provide the services you need to help you accomplish your therapy goals. I can address questions that may come up about any of the methods and procedures used in the course of your therapy, their possible risks, and my expertise in implementing them.
In the service of supporting your health and wellbeing, I celebrate you and the courageous journey you are embarking on or furthering.
